The early ‘00s may not seem like that long ago, but the phones everyone was raving about back then are now completely obsolete. New generations of kids are now growing up with fancy smartphones. However, older millennials were fond of these simple devices back in the early days of the century. Here’s why:
Released in 1998, the Nokia 5110 (or 5190, if you were in North America) got the job done with its easy functionality, allowing you to send short texts, make calls, and play games like Snake. This little guy was awesome for its time.
First released in 2000, the Nokia 3310 (or the 3390 in North America) was a worldwide phenomenon with a record-breaking 126 million units sold following its launch. It boasted notable upgrades from its predecessors thanks to its 459-character text limit — three times longer than the regular SMS at the time.
Arguably the sleekest-looking model of the early 2000s, this futuristic flip phone was a pretty desirable accessory at the time. The Motorola Razr was first released in 2004 with notable features such as a colorful screen and great ringtone and game selection.
In support of cell phone evolution, Sony Ericsson released a line of Walkman phones in 2005 that were, as the name suggests, capable of music playback. SE’s signature feature back then was sheer entertainment for every music lover.
